Job Opening: Preschool Lead Teacher
Wunderville Early Learning & Care
Where joy lives, and every child is seen, heard, and loved.
About Wunderville
Wunderville is an early learning and care destination dedicated to giving every child the gift of a wonder-filled early experience. We believe the first five years shape a child’s entire foundation, and we are on a mission to make a lasting, positive mark on our community, maximizing each child’s potential and laying the groundwork for a bright, productive future.
We are growing our team and looking for warm, lively, creative, and reflective educators. If you aren’t just looking for another job, but want a place to give purposefully to a field you are passionate about, Wunderville is where you belong.
About the Role
We are seeking a Preschool Lead Teacher to join our vibrant early childhood community.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we view children as capable, curious, and creative individuals who express their ideas in a hundred different ways. In this role, you will facilitate learning through meaningful relationships, hands-on exploration, inquiry, and experiences that emerge naturally from children's own interests and questions.
If you love watching children wonder, investigate, create, collaborate, and make discoveries, and want to work alongside a team that deeply values those moments, we would love to meet you.
What You’ll Do
As a Preschool Lead Teacher, you will:
Guide Inquiry & Emergent Learning: Carefully observe children to design and facilitate engaging, project-based experiences rooted in their natural curiosity, interests, and questions.
Encourage Multi-Faceted Expression: Provide daily opportunities for children to express their ideas through art, movement, music, language, construction, dramatic play, nature, and sensory exploration.
Cultivate the Environment as the "Third Teacher": Thoughtfully prepare an intentional, inviting classroom space with rich materials that foster independence, agency, creativity, and collaboration.
Build Relationships & Social-Emotional Support: Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive community where every child and their family feels seen, heard, valued, and loved. Stay watchful and attentive to peer interactions, scaffolding in real time to guide children toward healthy, productive ways of communicating and socializing.
Document & Make Learning Visible: Capture children’s learning journeys through observations, photos, conversations, and work samples, sharing their thinking with families and the school community.
Partner with Families: Maintain open, warm, and consistent communication with families to build strong home-school connections.
Collaborate & Reflect: Work closely with co-teachers and leadership through ongoing dialogue, shared planning, and reflection to maintain a joyful professional culture and deepen Reggio Emilia–inspired practice.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an educator who brings warmth, curiosity, and purpose to their work every day. You will be a great fit for Wunderville if you are:
Passionate & Purpose-Driven: Deeply committed to early childhood education, enthusiastic about working with young children, and eager to make a lasting, positive mark on our community.
Pedagogically Aligned: Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy—or excited to learn—and comfortable trusting emergent curriculum and project-based exploration over rigid, predetermined themes.
Curious & Observant: Fascinated by how children think and learn, skilled at capturing their ideas, and energized by open-ended materials, hands-on discovery, and sensory play.
Warm, Creative & Attentive: Patient, lively, and highly attentive to classroom dynamics, with a gentle ability to model social skills, facilitate healthy peer communication, and foster a safe, inclusive culture.
Collaborative & Reflective: A strong communicator who values partnership with colleagues and families, welcomes open dialogue and feedback, and is committed to continuous professional growth.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a closely related field preferred.
Experience: Prior preschool teaching experience required; lead teaching experience in an early childhood setting is strongly preferred.
Pedagogical Understanding: Familiarity with or strong interest in Reggio Emilia–inspired practice, project approach, or emergent curriculum.
Compliance & Safety: Must meet all applicable state licensing standards, pass required background checks, and fulfill state health and safety requirements.
Why Join Our Community?
This is more than a classroom teaching position, it is an opportunity to belong to a community that genuinely respects children as deep thinkers and recognizes our staff as the lifeblood of our vision.
At Wunderville, you will find:
A Culture of Joy & Purpose: A warm, intentional school environment where curiosity is at the heart of every day and every team member plays a meaningful role in shaping our community’s future.
Supportive & Collaborative Leadership: A leadership team and peer group that actively values your creative ideas, respects your professional voice, and fosters open reflection.
Professional Inspiration & Growth: Ample space to develop emergent projects alongside children, document their thinking, and continually deepen your practice alongside passionate colleagues.
